Bloomfield Irrigation District started diverting water in 1912. Our water is diverted a few miles down from the Navajo Dam spillway directly from the San Juan River. Our ditch is known as the Citizens ditch, and it runs 42 miles east just outside of Bloomfield. Mike, Al, and Ralph maintain all 42 miles of The Citizens Ditch to provide water to over 2,500 irrigators. BID supplies water to the City of Bloomfield to be treated and provided to our community of 7,330 residents. Large industrial companies such as Enterprise are also supplied with our water for industrial use.
Bloomfield Irrigation District is made up of 3 precincts. Each of our board members are in charge of one precinct. Our board members are volunteer members in our community, they volunteer their time and energy to ensure a smooth operation and water delivery and to assure the transportation of water remains intact for future generations.
