Our Board Members
Leonard Trujillo Board Member Precinct 1 Porter Wash-East
Leonard was born in Los Martinez(Navajo Dam). He attended a one room school house, Blanco Elementary, and Bloomfield High School. After High School, Leonard started working for Morrison-Kaiser, building Navajo Dam. In 1963 he went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation and worked his way up to Reservoir Superintendent; in charge of Operations and Maintenance. Leonard retired in 1994 with 31 years of service.
Leonard has served on the Bloomfield Board of Education (18 years), the San Juan College Board (when we became a community college and separated from New Mexico State), New Mexico School Board Association (serving as president for 24 years). He also served on the Farm Bureau as president for 2 years.
Leonard is married to Rose and has 3 sons; Tony, Mark, and Darrell. He enjoys farming and ranching on his farm east of Bloomfield.
Leonard would like to see the district establish an inspection and maintenance program. Inspect the ditch and prioritize projects of importance to insure water flow, while making sure funding is available to secure the future of the Bloomfield Irrigation Ditch
Dale Archuleta Board Member Precinct 2 Porter Wash, Potter Canyon to 1st Street Current Chariman
Dale was born in Durango and raised on a family farm in Blanco, NM. He graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended a tech school in Denver. After graduation he enlisted in the USN "Seebees", where he did a tour in Vietnam. After his service obligation he returned to San Juan County and began a working career in Mining of 32 Years. He held positions in Equipment Maintenance as a Mechanic, Supervisor, Superintendent, and finally a Manager. Dale also worked for Caterpillar as a Product Support Manager of Mining Equipment.
Dale married Dana and has 2 sons; Dustin and Derek. He has been farming property in Blanco and Bloomfield, where he plans to be a hobby farmer for the rest of his life.
As a Board Member, Dale passionately cares about assuring future water rights. Also, assuring that the transportation of water remains intact for future generations, as his ancestors have done for him.
John McHarney Board Member Precinct 3 west side of first street to the end of the ditch
John has lived in the Bloomfield area, after moving from Farmington, for 19 years. He was a self employed artist Blacksmith until the year 2000. At that time he went into nursing. He felt like it was time to give back. John retired from the San Juan Regional Medical Center in 2020. He now spends time gardening, watching his goats, and Blacksmithing.
One of Johns goals serving as a Bloomfield Irrigation District Board member is to help see that water reaches the end of the ditch in a well organized and equitable manner.
